Code of conduct

Every MEE gathering is hosted to one standard: anyone can arrive alone and leave having had a good night. This page is how we protect that.

What we expect

  • Welcoming by default

    Most guests arrive alone. Include the person next to you, make space in the conversation, and let the hosts introduce newcomers. Cliques kill the room.

  • Respect is non-negotiable

    No harassment, no discrimination, no aggression, no unwanted advances, and no pressure on anyone to drink. One warning at most — often none.

  • Drink like you're among friends

    Alcohol is part of many venues we visit; being unmanageable is not. The venue's staff make the final call on service, age checks, and entry — we back them completely.

  • Photos with care

    We take a small amount of natural photo and video content at events. Tell a host if you'd rather not appear — that's always respected, no explanation needed.

  • Respect the venue

    We are guests in someone's business. Treat the room and the staff the way you'd want your own place treated — it's how we keep being welcome back.

If something goes wrong

Tell a host — on the night, in person, straight away. Every event has a named MEE host whose job includes exactly this. You will be taken seriously, and you decide how much you want to be involved in what happens next.

Anyone who ignores this standard is asked to leave, and repeat behavior means no future invitations. Serious incidents on premises are handled with the venue’s security and, where appropriate, the relevant authorities.

The honest boundaries

MEE events are social gatherings of adults. We curate the room, host it attentively, and act on problems — but we are organizers, not personal guardians, and each guest remains responsible for their own decisions. Premises safety, security, and alcohol service belong to the venue and its trained staff.
